Please can we bring back short sci-fi books, like this one, which were all the rage in the 50s and 60s

Another recommendation from Austin Kleon that doesn’t disappoint

I’m hooked, don’t get me wrong, but this book did not have to be 200k words long. There’s WAY too much fluff that detracts from the story.

What the heck am I reading?

After 11 years, a re-read was long overdue

Every time a chapter from Laia’s POV arrives I sigh in disappointment.

Every sentence is overdone. “Pain speaks to us in a voice that carries the hallowed certainty of hymns.” This kind of sentence can be beautiful on its own, but there are hundreds back to back in almost every chapter.

Oh no, I sense a DNF approaching.

I’m struggling to see how this was written by Maas, the creator of ACOTAR and ToG. This book contains almost all the aspects of urban fantasy that I find cringe. This one is deeeefinitely not for me.

At this stage, I’m sticking around for the drama. It’s Keeping Up With The Kardashians but YA dystopian edition.

Reading this book is like walking through dense fog. What is the hype about? I'm going to persevere and give it another 50 pages in the hopes that something drastic changes.

Oh my, what is this? A YA fantasy that is original and unexpected without a heroine that needs saving? FINALLY.

IT LITERALLY DOESN'T END.

There is a story in this collection called A Dream of a Thousand Cats and if that's not enough to get you to pick up this series then I don't know.

There is something so comforting about going back to a series you love and being amongst the characters again. Stiefvater is a magician.

Every second page features a 'holy moly' or a 'cripe's sake' and I now have this deep urge to hear the protagonist swear properly.

Some people are born with the natural talent for story telling, like Gaiman or King. I think Victoria Schwab is part of that category.

It's time for a re-read because the weather calls for a comfort book and I'm too indecisive to pick something new.

The dark academia vibes are strong with this one.
