The characters in this are mostly like the original, but the plot doesn't really follow the same story (here and there are aspects that resemble it but not enough for this to be like a true retelling). Part of me wonders if this would have worked better as just a historical fiction story set during this time and not a retelling/remix.

Look, I get that this is a small town with a small police force but after, I don't know, the third or fourth victim wouldn't you think they'd call in reinforcements & LOCK DOWN EVERYTHING. Like patrols EVERYWHERE so the killer can't just climb into someone's window, stab, & climb back out without anybody noticing. AND PARENTS DIDN'T STAY HOME WITH THEIR CHILDREN. GOODNESS. This is just incredible stupid & I hate it.
