What this book has to say about history, about the human spirit, about the human capacities for pride and love and wonder, it is no surprise that it has endured. That said, I am happy that I will be moving on to new, shorter, novels soon. And I think as far as completeness of character is concerned, Anna Karenina remains the greater of Tolstoy's epics.
