Finally made time to read and I’m getting into it! Really find it fascinating that even though it was written like a decade ago it has this extremely relevant and relatable plague plus a government that pretends to care and people who buy into that lie even though it’s clearly not true.

I don’t want to keep reading—not because it isn’t good, but because it’s SO good and sweet and happy and healing right now but I just KNOW there’s a plot twist around the corner. I’m terrified this is going to end painfully instead of a happy ending—does anybody know? Should I stop and remember it as sweet like this? Or keep going? It’s made me cry enough today, so I’ll decide tmrw...

I can’t put this story down! There are some really raw, sweet moments here—but I’m so nervous because some reviews say it’s a tear jerker ending and I’m already getting a little misty eyed at some parts...

Page 54: “I guess we seem rather unlikely, if you judge friendships on race alone.” Um, WHAT? Who does that? Who thinks about their friends like that??? This is not something that would ever enter my mind & it’s starting to bother me that her every interaction with people is judging them by their race as if that’s all they are. Strongly disagree and dislike. This attitude has been slipped in a lot already :(

I told myself “I’ll just read the first page” because I was curious... next thing I know, I accidentally read the first five chapters and I’m already obsessed. How am I supposed to work now?? 😆

I need a good YA fantasy book recommendation!

I tend to gravitate toward popular stuff because if someone says a book is good, that makes me wanna read it lol... so if you have any LESS well-known books you'd recommend, I'd also love to know! Especially if it's a villain origin story like my current WIP (already read Fairest, Heartless, Wild Seed, The Young Elites, Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes...)

I don't know how I didn't know Wild Seed had more books in the series until now, but totally just ordered the other three books and can't wait to read more in this world!! :D
