Setting has no reason to be in Salem besides being clever?? I guess. It could have been any small town
I personally like when lesbian romances don't mention that they're lesbians, but this book does it a lot. Not for no reason, but I did feel like it was trying to get Extra Points by reminding you all the time
Characters are bland but not unbearable.
I wish this was set at Halloween or something for a better aesth.

Thea is at least starting to give him a chance, and at least Gavin is finally starting to actually learn. I still think Thea is being way too harsh and her sister is only making it 10x worse. You shouldn't WANT your marriage to fail, and Thea was responsible for never talking to her husband about these problems before it all blew up!

For as "feminist" as Thea thinks she is, she's constantly jealous of other women for EVERYTHING. All the other wives are bitchy and fake and just have their husbands as a personality. But Thea is so special and different and an outcast. At least Gavin's faults are pointed out and he tries to fix them.

The first lesbian novel where I don't want the girls to get together. I don't care about Veronica at all. The world is also not really defined, Reg is a dumb name, and none of the characters feel very witchy besides when they actually do spells

Everything is the embodiment of my stress. Everything goes wrong and nobody is reasonable at any point. The kids are also acting like their a few years older than they're meant to be. And the supposed romance is so weird I hope the rest of the story doesn't actually think it will work

The characters are actually pretty bland. The female love interest is mostly something to be saved, the One Thing that Jack can prove he's worthy of - but he constantly is trying to push her boundaries. He feels desperate, and their chemistry isn't good enough to justify why he's so crazy about her. They're both just average, cute but nothing special. After a while average feels boring

Everything about this so far is Okay. The characters are Okay, the romance is sort of cute, but nothing special. Everyone does and says the right thing when they need to, it doesn't feel all that dramatic.

While the setting is more Capitol of HG than a western, there are a lot of western themes: shootouts, gangs, bounty hunters, even a rodeo type of subplot. The characters are sort of stereotypes, but at least not the too harmful kind of stereotypes completely. The pace is fast and entertaining at least

Very cool locations. Rather flat characters, but they have time to grow. Pity is still a dumb name but I'm getting a hold on her personality and want to see her harden over time hopefully

I don't care about Abel and Rue's romance, I don't really understand how they came to like each other at all. All I care about now is Bean and Varina, the other things happening don't really feel like much of a plot. Especially not in the flashbacks

Having trouble getting sucked into this one. First, I just hate that slave-speak in writing. I just feel weird reading it, like its all just a caricature, and its hard to see the real characters. And the atmosphere isn't very fleshed out, besides the tone of dread concerning some of the slavetime time. Rue's conflict just isn't very interesting, neither is the mystery. I don't know what the consequences are
