I was reading this until four this morning. It’s IMPOSSIBLE to put down

I’m so annoyed at this book! Why does it have to be IMPOSSIBLE TO PUT DOWN? I love Murielle with my whole heart and Perle’s inner conflict is just WONDERFUL. Ahhhhh

Okay. So I’m loving this. The writing’s super flowery but I think I’ll get used to that. I ship Perle and Dejean so much oml. Also I’m very glad that these pirates haven’t misgendered Perle yet!

So Emma’s still being rude about poor Jane Fairfax but like, she’s not being competitive with Harriet and she admits that she’s not a kind person. Do I sense character development???

This is EXACTLY what I need right now. It requires a bit of brainpower but oh my goodness, is it good? I know I’ve barely even chipped away at it. I couldn’t help but go into this with the expectation that this would be like “The Book Thief”. Boy, was I wrong? This is so trashy (in a good way) and hilarious. WHO IS THE MURDERER? Oh my word, hooked already. I also like how the pov is from a guy who is married with kids. I’m pretty sure this is YA so that’s an interesting stance to take.

I kind of want to reread “The Rest of us Just Live Here” by Patrick Ness because I just didn’t vibe with it the first time round but Hui really liked it. Maybe I should give it another try?

I told myself I wouldn't read two books at the same time ever again but it's April which means Asian Readathon 2020. And as "Emma" is distinctly not Asian, I'm circling around to an old frenemy of mine. It's set in a fictionalised Arabia so the characters technically are Asian (the lockdown means I can't get new books in so I'm kind of clutching at straws here). I can't relate to these characters so - system hacked.
