The 'dark Spanish eyes' line is already not encouraging me to continue reading this one.

Semester is winding down. Not like that means anything as i will probably be reading books for next semester over the holidays.

So since ive started school, i have zero time to read books for leisure. For a while, all books updated here are books I have to read for UWI. Sad.

Only 40 pages in and its hilarious! those bushes are the best!

THIS BOOK: um...what's a plot?. Too many things are going on. And another thing, we get it, its set in Trinidad!! Its like the author is trying to flex on their knowlwdge of Trinidad tropes. The writing is overly descriptive to the point of being pretentious. Im calling it quits

Im only on page 5 and i find the author's hyper awareness of the characters ethnicities irksome. Is it an effort to relay the fact that Trinidad is cosmopolitan to none Caribbean readers?

Eg: 'glances at Ata's mixed race complexion'
'The indian taxi driver' 'diesel dark skinned vendors'.

These phrases are literally on the first two pages

What the heck...

Anyone who knows me knows i love Japan. Yes...**whispers**..in the weeaboo-ish way. As i get older I feel like i want to appreciate the more 'adult' side of Japan. No, i don't mean hentai **facepalms**. I mean enjoying other aspects of culture that Japan has to offer especially it's literature. So, this year i'd like to read more works by Japanese authors.

Any recommendations besides Murakami?

So. I sold all my books.
Well, a comination of sold and gave away.
And, well, not ALL.

I still own 20 books (most of which are Neil Gaiman's books)

So, i deleted all my ebooks accidentally, well all my READ ebooks anyway. All my reading/to be read books are safe on my paperwhite but my ENTIRE library of read ebooks GONE T_T. I cant event BEGIN to download them over.
Think maybe its a sign since i've been crazy into the whole 'minimalist' thing. So im thinking, this tragic experience may inspire me to adapt a minimalist attitude when it comes to collecting books

Think, no, KNOW, I'm in a reading slump...since March maybe? So off to the library Saturday to knock off lexicon and accident season and maybe penumbra since I was salivating over it initially.
