Ken Liu has this absolutely mesmerising manner of absorbing you into his story! Simple and lucid language and the rich details of this world. love it till now!!

Oh the world building. THE world building. It is friggin' awesome. And the turn of phrase. LOVELY. Ken Liu, bang on time, counting down to the Wall of Storms release in October.

Tor.com e-novella publishing schedule has been one of the main culprits for me getting sidetracked . I've never read Marie Brennan, I know the whole world loves her Natural History of Dragons series! but this book called out to me, just like the tug of that hook burying deeper into our unnamed protagonist's heart, the call of that mysterious enigmatic foe she sets out to vanquish. It's addictive. It's heart rending.

A bit choppy - Prequel to the first book of Shattered Sands and Ceda's adventures (or rather, MIS-adventures) are being fleshed out. Will stick with it.

Almost there. Another of those novels that requires you to just keep your mind switched off and then scamper along at frenetic bursts of speed as our young protagonist, Sean Harker jumps into one cess-pool after the other, in his troubled life. It starts off well - but as I near the end, I am a little unconcerned, unaffected by the turn of events.

Bought this as wanted to check out the hype over this book. The initial chapters seem a bit off - Alice doesn't seem to be too bright and the writing is a bit clunky. Exposition galore. But the one thing that Mainak's definitely churning out in the right amount - is the action and the gore. Sticking with this to see if the "story-telling" can clinch it.

Oh what a start! This is heading off the cliff.

Smooth! Love the beginning.

The layers around Jalan is slowly peeling off - we finally get to see the man underneath all that pretense. And we LOVE him!
