You know the writing is incredible when the literal helplessness a character find's himself/herself in translates to the reader physically suffocating.

I don't know if I make sense? Sometimes reading something has a noticeable physical effect on me. Although such experiences are taxing on one's mind, they are invaluable and magical. To produce such an effect with just words! A bow to such writers!

“But I had absolutely lost all sense of personal dignity, and could not tear myself away from the spectacle of my own misery.”

This is so depressing. I love the writing.

If it takes lies to ensure a bond, a bond that's tied in blood, from breaking, then I would rather like to see people questioning the whole situation that is forcing them to push the truth into darkness rather than people who give-in to the manipulative power of love that cruelly demands to cheat themselves to ensure it's continuity.

When you try to remember memories that are fading under the storm of time
Your mind is caught in the midst of a catastrophic clash of real memories and deluded remembrances
You question every truth you have been so sure of
You wish every lie that is trying to replace your truth to do a convincing job
For you no longer have the strength to fight for the truth
Nor the strength to resist your descent into delirium

I was looking for Kafkaesque books(Franz Kafka's Metamorphosis type. The weird, mind**k, magical realism kind) and found some interesting ones that now I want to read one immediately. But I'm currently reading some good ones:(

Did you read any such books which were strange and unique, whether you liked them or not? I'm looking for recommendations, please :D

I will read 1 mindf***k Kafkaesque book every month :P

They kissed gently, eyes closed,
Holding their breath,
Holding each other,
The taste of the kiss,
Changed from sweet to salty,
As time shrinked,
To goodbye from eternity.

Sankara Jayanth S is starting Lemony Snicket: The Unauthorized Autobiography
After finishing 'A Series of Unfortunate Events'(ASOUE) last month, I felt sad that it has all come to a grim and depressing end. But I came to know that there are quite a few other books within the same universe that sort of clear-up some mysteries like V.F.D and it's inner workings.

PS: Prospect readers of ASOUE, this 'unauthorized autobiography' falls between book #8 and book #9 in the timeline of the series.

There are places in this world where the line between reality and delusion blurs. As you walk, familiar phantoms start to appear. A couple of merry ghosts turn the corner as they walk towards you, their hands clasped, their world their own. You are afraid to extend a hand towards them lest you taste the air of happiness around them, afraid that the taste might linger and haunt you outside the illusion.

The parallel storyline of Serpents is awesome. I love it. This book started off with a chilling prologue and now their story is getting even better.

Ascent of the Nature
a mere seed rules earth,
grows slow and strong, then conquers,
ascends throne of sky.

Ascent of a Bird
mother bird looks down,
the hatchlings need nourishment,
a flight into dawn.

Ascent of a Woman
abused heart,
lets out battle cry,
blazing sword.

Ascent of a Man
infinite power,
to exploit; yet he stands back,
wields humility.

I can't seem to leave this series alone. I can't seem to want to read anything but fantasy.

Dear reality,
Not today either. Let's try to meet up after I finish this book.

You feel that all strength you have ever shown to overcome the things you did by setting up walls so high in your mind to prevent painful memories of the past from seeping into the present is for nothing when all it takes to crush those walls and open a devastating flood of pain is a simple string of characters arranged to represent a name which for an obvious reason you could never ever forget.

Holmes!!! Reading for the umpteenth time. The anticipation of thrill and mystery hasn't decreased even after so many rereads.

Actually, I'm listening to David Clarke's audiobook on Librivox. I like this narrator. I loved his narration of The Count of Monte Cristo too.

I've just gotten a talking down from my entire family for reading too much everyday. My psychiatrist asked me not to be alone in my room for too long as way to overcome depression. That was the cue my parents and sister needed to give me a scolding on my obsessive reading habits. I don't know whether to laugh or cry. Reading books helps and heals me like silence and animals do. I can't put a meter to regulate my love

Again, like the Farseer Trilogy, the characters are very interesting and their interactions even more.
