There are so many complex characters in this book. I think it’s so good because Holly black is fully willing to let it burn as slowly as it wants. This is a villain origin story where I believe every single beat

I finally found the illustrated one at the library (I own a copy, but it's mass market, and the illustrations really do just bring another level of beauty to this story)

I love when authors don’t decide they’re too good for centuries of lore and mythology. It should really not be refreshing.
