To the book. And the sentences: Why are you soooo long?!

Childhood memories felt more interesting than the young-adult struggles.

I am back in familiar territory: Eagerness of the lower middle class to collect knowledge, the naturally skilled upper classes thus exposing the eagerly collected knowledge and the frought relation of artist and upper classes.

Unwanted pregnancy and and being poor reminded me of Patti Smith’s "Just Kids".

I am somewhat lost between all the cadres and engineers and where they go for summer vacation?!

What i heard about the book before gave me the impression that the myth aspect would be more obvious and stronger, but it reads so far much like a (beautifully written) normal autobiography.

The diary is, due to the topic of cancer, sometimes sad.
The style is soooo enjoyable, particularly when reading Whitehead and Bourdieu next to it.

The book contains sections from interviews that are visually separate from the text which just start on some page while the main text continues running. This means you need to either skip the interviews or come back to them later. The footnotes are normal footnotes but are very long and continue sometimes over two pages. The notes are in the normal text but have the same text size as the footnotes. Messy.

The style! Best when read aloud.

Almost at the end (I read both volumes, so the page numbers are off). It starts to drag a bit after 500 pages but I guess that’s ok.

Excellent book continuies excellenting.

Short chapters make for a nice reading experience. It gets a bit repretitive but not in a bad way – topics are explored in multiple places from multiple perspectives.
Also: Some whitehead-vibes (seems not to cite him directly, but it does cite Isabelle Stengers)

Strongly appreciate the short chapters.
I would have liked a bit more discussion of embodiement and perception.

The shown connection of abstract, global systems and local, messy practices are fascinating.

It is a slow read, but almost every section gives structure to thought in a way that is both theoretically relevant ("I can cite this!") and vividly imaginable ("So this is why I can do…")

So far a nice intro in design history; mainly from a US point of view, but why not, I only knew the German pov so far.

It does, however, bracket out 'non-normal' experiences.
