Up to The Malcontent by John Marston and looking forward to it because I really loved reading his play Antonio's Revenge in the Penguin anthology Five Revenge Tragedies.

Up to Richard III.

Up to Henry VI, Part One.

Finished The Taming of the Shrew and next is Titus Andronicus, one of my favorite plays. For some reason there were lots of errors in designations of who was speaking in this play, as well as some butchered Italian phrases, so I had to follow along with my copy of The RSC Shakespeare: The Complete Works.

I just finished The Two Gentlemen of Verona and next up is The Taming of the Shrew. I'm now following the order of plays in Shakespeare After All by Marjorie Garber, but I don't propose to reread the plays I've already read out of this book. When I come to those plays, and the corresponding chapters in Garber's book, I'll just skip them.

Up to the chapter on Titus Andronicus.

Up to Chapter 20.

Up to Chapter 19.

Up to chapter 18.

Up to chapter 12.

Returning to my long delayed reading of this book. I'm now up to Bussy D'Ambois by George Chapman. After several comedies, I'm now due for a run of tragedies because The Malcontent by John Marston and A Woman Killed with Kindness by Thomas Heywood are up next.

Finished 3 Henry VI, and now I'm going to go on to The Comedy of Errors, but I'm also going to throw in a side read of a modern spelling edition of Richard III to continue the story, and just because I happen to have it. Later, when Richard III comes in the schedule, I'll read it in the Folio version.

Finished the chapter on 3 Henry VI. Up next is The Comedy of Errors.

Finished 2 Henry VI and continuing with 3 Henry VI. Though I intend to read everything I can out of this Folio facsimile, I'm also tempted to read Richard III out of an individual edition I own after finishing with the trilogy. Then I can read it in the original Folio version when the group comes to read it later sometime in March.

Up to Henry VI, Part Two.

Like the Folio, I'm calculating this by percentage because I'm reading this book out of order, using Garber's essays as introductions to the plays. Therefore, I've read her introduction and the chapters on Twelfth Night, 1 Henry VI and 2 Henry VI. Next up 3 Henry VI. Then I'll skip past Richard III to The Comedy of Errors.

I'm using a percentage rather than a page number because I'm reading the plays out of order. So far I've read all the prefatory matter (the dedication to the Herbert brothers, the letter from John Heminges and Henry Condell to the readers, the poems by Ben Jonson, Hugh Holland, Leonard Digges, and "I. M." (possibly John Marston?)) and Twelfth Night, my favorite comedy. Next up, the Henry VI trilogy.

Up to Part III: The Hollow Crown (1455 - 1471)

Up to Part II, "What is a King? (1437 - 1455)

Up to Trojan Women by Euripides.

Up to the section on Euripides. I'll probably save Medea, here the second play in the section, for last because it's my favorite Euripides tragedy. Otherwise the plays are Alcestis, Hippolytus, Electra, The Trojan Women, Helen, and The Bacchae. With the exception of Helen, I've already read all these plays in the book Ten Plays, translated by Paul Roche.

Up to Act III.

Up to Part III: Classical Greece (500-330 BCE) and the chapter on Athens.

Just finished Oedipus the King and Antigone by Sophocles, and I'm too shattered to read any more. They are such magnificent plays.

Up to the section of Sophocles. In the section on Aeschylus, I liked the translations by James Romm (The Persians and Prometheus Bound) but found Sarah Ruden's translation of The Oresteia flat-footed, overly literal, and even incoherent at points. Fortunately, I've got Robert Fagles translation, which seems to be much better (I was referring to it in order to figure out what Ruden's was saying).
