I enjoy - contrary to some of the other reviews on here - the "jumping around" between Rome, Judaea, and China. Definitely could use a more scholarly-feel to it, rather than so seemingly "popular", but a decent book all the same.

Pretty interesting so far. Byzantine history definitely deserves a closer look.

not fancying this novel too much yet. there is the odd spurt that's fun to read but the characters are ridiculous and flat and the twists and turns are far from exhilerating. Gallico creates too otherworldly a setting for this topsy-turvy adventure

This novel is superb. Beautifully written (translated?) and nostalgia-fueled, I'm not looking forward to finishing it.
