Taking it slowly: 2 of 10 stories read. So far, so good. My first encounter with Mr Liu's stories. Despite the scientific elements, the writing style (of the translations) is quite accessible.

One chapter at a time, when there's time. ;-) 5 more chapters to go. So yeah, really taking my time with this one, but that's also because there are other books and circumstances that "get in the way". Nevertheless, it is an interesting book about language and the mind, and how we look at the world.

Reading it in pieces, as it's not a light subject, even though Steven Pinker does try to bring it with a certain flair, charm, humour, ... He's an academic, after all, hence the accessibility of the topic not being that light.

A slow story with little excitement, thus reading it in bits. Millions of years ago, life was simpler (hunt/forage, eat, sleep, copulate, empty your bladder and bowels, ...), but there's no need to use vulgar, childish vocabulary to describe such events. I like KSR's works, but Shaman is not his best. It does have good ideas regarding mankind, though. Also, the massive punctuation errors are inexcusable!

First part is ok, but not in style and some vocabulary (at times a little too common, too vulgar, even if it's supposed to "fit" the context). Let's hope the story now takes off and the wording is of a different order/style.
