It's very interesting to see how evangelical Christians are doubting their faith in God because extroversion is so valued amongs their community. Catholicism (from my perspective) seems a much more introverted religion - we're all about quiet reflection and solitude...though I always hated the greeting and hand-shaking part of mass the most.

The chapter on the myth of charismatic leadership has been not only eye-opening, but also self-affirming. I'm not alone...even if I would prefer to be most of the time.

I am definitely taking a break from this series after I finish this one. I have Caster fatigue.

These books are best when they stick to the whole "less is more" thing.

5 pages in and already I feel like I'm home. Self-validation is a beautiful thing.

This book is pretty inconsistent...good chapters are completely mixed in with bad ones. Looking forward to seeing how Sarafine's story turns out. I find myself enjoying reading about the flashbacks and visions more than what's supposed to be happening in the present.

I'm getting kind of bored with these now. I really get the sense that the story and the mythology has really spun out of control and the authors are having a hard time getting a grip on events. It's a shame because Beautiful Creatures was such a strong start.

And now we're venturing into convoluted paranormal romance territory. I feel like I'm meeting a new creature on every freaking page...Vex, sheer, blah blah blah. Also, Lena needs a good kick in the twat.

I'm getting a bit of a sense of sophmore slump from this one, but Beautiful Creatures was good enough that there was only really one place to go...down.
