Odysseus, son of Laertes, the great traveler, prince of wiles and tricks and a thousand ways. He showed me his scars, and in return he let me pretend that I had none.

"Jason would never listen to such slander? I delivered him the fleece! He loves me!" She stood fixed in her outrage, bright and defiant. All my hammering had only made her harder. Just so must I have seemed to my grandmother when she said to me: Those are two different things.

She looked at me and sighed. She must have heard such pleas a thousand times. That is one thing gods and mortals share. When we are young, we think ourselves the first to have each feeling in the world.

Popular book at the library. There were a couple dozen holds ahead of me when I requested this. Gotta get to reading fast because, there are holds after me, meaning I can't renew.

I bought this cheap not knowing it was a continuation/reboot of the series (which I haven't read). The art is great, but the the dialogue and characterization flat, and story not accessible without reading previous books.

This has been sitting on my Kindle forever.

So far...though described as fast-paced, its plot meanders through the POVs of a few characters. The characterization and writing is good, but I'm not in love with this yet.

Well, Goblin here left the deer behind, so you have nothing. The wolves will eat what you do not."

"Unless we eat the wolves," Sevro mutters, drawing strange looks from the rest of our House.

I forgot how awful and perversely lovable Sevro is.

They had dinner then watched a show call Baked! where you could watch someone make desserts from the best restaurants around the world, and then for a few dollars print them out yourself if you had the right feedstocks.

Printing food instead of cooking? Yes, please. especially desserts!

This descriptions of Boston and its eccentricities are vivid, but I'm so glad I don't live there. Too cold; too urban.

Ah, I figured it out. In place of a protagonist, this novel has a McGuffin. Thus far, Meghan has existed solely to be rescued/located/captured by someone or something. So...essentially Puck or Grimalkin or Ash are the protagonists...except they aren't. This book is a perversely readable, hot stinking mess! :D

Holly Black does "Ordinary teen with great destiny in the land of Fey" much better. But...it's strangely engaging/readable.

We spent the rest of the party weekend joined at the hip, hanging out and trading potshots. A big part of our courtship was ragging on each other. Sure, later we would use it as a weapon, having learned what to say to wound and what would be the kill shot. But in the beginning, it was good fun. It felt like a mutual chase.

Fun? Meh. Sounds toxic.
