i knew what was coming but i’m still as shook as i was the first time

i know the movie (it’s my favorite one!) so i’m already familiar with the story but that does not stop me from being on the edge all over again. the setting and atmosphere (a lonely island with a hospital for the criminally insane during a thunderstorm) work so well together and with the story create just the right amount of suspense. i love it!

my entire body is in pain just from reading about the amount of alcohol, cigarettes and drugs these people are consuming

and all of a sudden the one guy who i didn’t expect to be queer makes out with another guy… y’all the book is WILD

it always makes me laugh when they use tel’aran’rhiod like some more practical zoom meeting to discuss matters directly

the book was probably super shocking when it was first released and whereas the depiction of vampires does not terrify me, i still think it is a good read so far. i like the collection of diary entries, letters and newspaper articles and how they slowly create a bigger picture. it causes all the suspense! :)

i have no idea how any of the stories which are told here are connected, but we’ll see i guess.
