I've completely fallen down a rabbit hole with this one!
It's dark and enchanting. Exactly the vibe I was looking for 🖤

Absolutely loving this.
It's a trope I have seen before and haven't been crazy about, but in Harrow's hands it is pretty close to perfection 🖤

Wait...has she been here before?
Because was it around the time the other nanny went missing?
How well does Christa know herself...LOL

Dark! We're getting dark!
Just in case anyone is wondering, this is an Adult collection, not YA.
It's really strong. Definitely recommend so far!

I'm pretty into this now.
I like the back and forth from past and present to develop this family and their history. Also, enjoying the sort of hillbilly noir tone it's got going on. That's always something I tend to enjoy.

I've wanted to read this since its release in 2021.
I'm so happy to finally be picking it up.
Enjoying the dark tone which was set within the first couple of pages.
Interested to see what is really going on with Arien!

For those who enjoy YA Contemporary stories focused on trauma recovery, I think this could work great. It's not like I don't like that kind of story, but I erroneously believed this was like more of a Teen Slasher. My bad.

Thoughts:
This is very slow.
This is focusing heavily on emotion versus action.
This isn't what I was in the mood far.
This isn't what the cover feels like.
I don't hate it.

I get the judge was stuck between a rock and hard place, but sort of shame on her for getting Madison involved. It's essentially doing to another girl what was done to her...huff.

You won't let a 15-year old kid leave the house for even a walk...you've got issues.

I'm actually really into this right now.
I like how both the intern and the judge are on to one another now, but neither one knows the other is on to them.

Okay, I am doing it. I am finally doing it.
I have thought about starting this book so many times, but it's October and there's no better time to read this one.
Initial thoughts, I think Dugan is going to make this much more emotional than I am looking for. I am looking for Slasher light, but so far this seems YA Romance with a hint, just a teeny-hint, of Slasher.

I def feel like this judge is setting this girl up for something.
Maybe she thinks someone has a hit out on her and this girl looks enough like her and is in her house, maybe she'll get taken out instead...

I'm surprised the synopsis gives away some of the details that it does, because there's like a huge thing, which I wouldn't have guessed had I not read the synopsis, that could have made a pretty fun reveal.
Nevertheless, we persist...

I cannot tell you how happy I am to be rereading this for the start of October. It's so fitting to the season. I had forgotten how quickly the animal irregularities begin popping up.
