Still building it out. We've gotten one our MCs to where she needs to be for the show to start I believe. We've had some reunions. I love when an MC returns to their hometown after a long time away. It's one of my go-tos.

I feel like the downfall of this book is that it tried to do too much. It diluted the impact with so many things happening concurrently. Like the Van Gogh thing??? Completely unnecessary.

In some ways, this is reminding me of Pines.

It's slowed down a little for me as we're learning about their day-to-day, but overall I'm still hecka intrigued. I need to know what's happening!

Love how this started off so quickly.
The first chapter, following a man named John, and his wife, Kira, certainly set the tone for what's ahead!!

Historic and cozy with a plucky and outspoken MC!!

I want more intrigue, less character study at this point.

I feel so much of Jake's pain and desperation.

Not much is being said about her, but what is Ember's deal?
She was distraught when Roz first met her?
She mentioned something about a broken heart?
Could she have been involved with Grant?
Would that be motive enough?

I am having a lot of fun with this.
It's a true locked room mystery.
I can't believe the general rating is so low!

I'm loving this.

We've caught up with the murder foreshadowed in the beginning.
I have theories, but they aren't strong. One of them is way to obvious and the other one doesn't have enough motive to back it up yet...

I am really enjoying this.
I like when you get everyone's perspective in a friendship group, because no matter how close you are, there's always something: secrets, resentments, betrayals. I love watching it all come to light.

I'm so happy that I decided to hold out until I could get an audio copy from my library. I am absolutely loving the dual narration. It's brought this story to life for me!

Handy little recap portion -- LOL -- considering I remember practically nothing from the third book in the series!

This is so interesting so far.
I like that when we start the story, the blight has already been taking over the town for a while. I liked getting the perspective of our MC and learning and bit about the blight and their town. Particularly the founding farms and the sort of magical crops they harvest. Also, what's in the woods!? Interested to go further with this one!
