I would recommend this series to fans of the Murderbot Diaries. It's definitely similar in the action-packed, space adventure plots, with humorous, lovable, tough-guy MCs.

I'm hoping these two don't get back together.
Ruby deserves better than someone who abandoned her for marriage to a jerk!

I think I am growing a little attached to Wren.

Things have slowed down a little as our characters catch their breath.
We had some nice quiet moments reflecting back on our MCs broken relationship and poor dog, Teddy. I can barely handle the parts with the dog. I guess I already sort of know her fate though, so how much worse can it get?!

I currently have 4 suspects.
I really hope for Kira's sake, it's not the one I am leaning towards most.
She's lost so much already.

Okay, Jack's wife is clearly getting ticked now, but is Kira gonna back off? No wayyyy

Uncle Hornsby sure is being elusive, and maybe toeing the line on safety, but the kids are getting so much accomplished without even realizing it!

Also, love that Baxter's little sister calls Turner, Turd-er, because she can't pronounce his name 😄😂 Poor, Turd-er.

It seriously feels like Kira and Jake are on a date, but apparently his wife doesn't care 🤷‍♀️

This dynamic between Kira and Jake is kind of bizarre. Especially with his wife in the room...I mean, I get it, but it feels uncomfortable.

I love the tone that Fraistat is setting and what the blight has done to the town and it's residents, as well as their animals.
Scared for our MC.
Also, a bit of the town lore, as far as the founding families, etc., is reminding me of The Devouring Grey, which I really enjoyed.
