Sometimes I don't know whom is talking to whom, or the significance of what is being said. What I perceive as a slight or an insult is actually a compliment. I'm trying to enjoy these characters. But WHY would Elizabeth be permitted to venture alone and unchaperoned?

Oddness is abundant. I think I'm still going to keep reading. I've gotten to a part that is unbelievable. I am having trouble accepting this unlikely occurrence in the book.

Lots if talk about birds and water: rain, streams, rivers, wells, culverts. Why am I still reading this book? What is going on?

Beautiful. I can't say enough how pleased I am.

On about page 262 this book completely changed course. Now it's like The Lord of the Rings or something. It's still worth continuing. I just feel this turn of events seem unrealistic. I was wondering why this book felt like a movie. Now I know.
