So far I can't put this book down. It's one of those book who's characters stay in your mind until you return to the book to continue their story.

This is a charming book. But why do the animals eat other animals? This book has all the things I love about War & Peace: adventures, luncheons, teas and without the war :)

I did it!

Wow, we just did some light algebra, we're firm on the rules of war, we know even more about Napoleon, and in a fencing duel a cudgel is effective!

We've been to war. There's been peace. We've touched on topics of love, vanity, existentialism, loss, beauty, truth, politics, high society, God, freemasonry, relationships, physics and now the behaviour of bees: all masterfully written and fascinating!

I love how Tolstoy knows so much about us: all our thoughts and actions down to the finest quirks.

Seize the moments of happiness, love and be loved! That is the only reality in the world, all else is folly.

We're into the war part. This is normally where I would bow out. But the formidable writing keeps me going. This could be monotonous. But who am I to judge this classic so early on?
