Up to around 250 times thru 18 Nov at this point. Based on the writing, it seems like the author wonders is this is how it feels to lose a partner, either through death or separation.

Well, on p. 33 taking the author's suggestion tonstart at chapter 3 if unfamiliar with the full novel. I've read the preface and the timeline, skipping chapters 1-2 for now.

Using the public domain download of these exercises for sight reading practice. There are 100 exercises, so through the first 20 I'm calling 20%, even though the later exercises are likely longer.

Day 2 done, another 8 or 9 miles behind him; far to go. Sore feet and body, and painful memories of wife and (estranged?) son flooding his mind after atypical prompts from his observations while walking, but also exhilaration from the beauty around him. Is the enlarging blister symbolic of his growing regrets? What will happen when it pops?

He stayed overnight in a hotel! By himself! He seems quite a sad case.
