In the spirit of today's US Veterans Day, my heart is with my fellow college students under white supremacist attack at Mizzou. The KKK may not be considered a terrorist group in this country, but that doesn't mean this isn't war.

On the one hand, I'm glad there are copies in the library for me to use when I forget my book at my apartment. On the other, WHY IS NO ONE ON CAMPUS READING THIS WONDERFUL WORK.

I'm gonna need more Bombay/Indian/South Asian noir when this is through. Perhaps this author's
Sacred Games
will be long enough to do the trick.

I'm glad I've been delving into India via nonfiction of late, else I'd be missing out on so much of this.

My 7th grade tutoree's teacher described a 2-3 page paper as "massive". I wrote a five page in-class essay on Thursday, turned in a five page paper yesterday, and have another due on Monday. Ah, youth.

My father once nearly came to blows with a female dinner guest about whether a particular patch of embroidery was fuchsia or magenta.

One part of me's thinking this is pretty neat. The other part's thinking lol, no wonder all the lit bros are jacking off to this.

It's always nice when a class has you read something you've been meaning to get around to for ages.

Theocratic dictators just aren't what they used to be. Or maybe they are, and hindsight's a slag when it comes to calling absolute power corrupting absolutely what it is.

Mann needs to stop stepping out of his homoerotic dudebro writing comfort zone, cause it only results in laziness along the lines of naming this current chapter '
The Bitch
'.

Oh my lord Mann how have you written an epic about Jewish people for almost a thousand pages without figuring out that witches are an anti-semitic trope.

Oh c'mon Mann. The concept of a person being 'black' in contrast to 'white' wasn't invented till the 1500's. The Egyptians of Joseph's day certainly had their hierarchies both nationalistic and otherwise, but all this talk connecting "higher civilization" to a concept of race is your modernizing bullfuckery and yours alone.

Does the difference in gender and/or race of the victim from your own excuse your inhumanity in calling the aftermath of a rape murder "a reverential display."? The last thing they need from you is further violation.

Has anyone ever come across the GR one star review poet? I'd link, but the inclusion of both IJ and Blood Meridian in their chosen canon leaves me content with poking them with a stick.
