I read the first 10 pages in July and then put this down. It was very bleak. If I had read beyond p12 then I would have found more humour.

I know this book is trying to teach me something, through its many layers, but as yet I cannot see a meaning clearly.

I really wanted to know what Lessing would do with Ben, but this is not as successful for me as The Fifth Child.

Some great thoughts and observations in this book. Perspectives that take in large galleries and exhibitions in vast international cities, and small shows in tiny New Zealand towns.

Wider ranging that I was expecting. Have just returned from the surface of Mars via the hostile South American plateau where they develop a Mars rover.

One story in and I already love this collection. Memories of childhood and collections of birds' nests.

Everything I have ever read by Anne Carson is brilliant...

I should really make the effort to read more of hers.

I love all these characters - they are so beautifully drawn.
