Please protect Nessa because I won't deal well with her not being at least HAPPY AND IN LOVE AND SAFE

So far, the characters are good (the feminine figures I mean, because all the male protagonists are really blank), I mean I'm rooting for Jude and her anger, I'm in love with Vivi, every girl has her own agenda and that's great. I'm starting Book Two now, but I just have one expectation : please book, do not fail me. So far, everything was SO expected it was almost insulting. Please surprise me.

I'm just sad the world building is not more developed, there's so much I want to know about the extent of magic and it's rules and the Court's system, how to rule them, how they politically rely on each other.. And what about the World Beyond ?

I'm surprised by how vehement people were about this book. I mean, it's not the greatest book I'll read this year, but it's not the worst either. It's just a story we already knew, we can find in other works, but every story has already been written. It's just a clumsy retelling, but certainly not a bad one that deserves all the hate I've seen.

I've seen a lot of bad reviews about this one, but I just can't not give it a try.
