This book/author thinks they are very clever. I disagree.

Tedious so far with little hooks between disparate parts to keep you going. I have heard the payoff is worth it in the end, but if it weren't for bookclub, not sure if I would continue. The payoff may be worth it, but the journey needs more "grab" before the payoff.

Not bad, but defiantly and prominently YA.

An absolutely tedious unremarkable book that I would have DNF'd if it weren't for this being for my work bookclub. At most this should have been a novella. Hard to see why it even got published really.

Trying this again. So, the prose is fairly awful feeling like it was written by that "clever" guy at your RPG table. The framing of the RPG game (with a DM who his players should leave for being a dick) with heroes dying at the start, is completely unneeded as this could have just been heroes dying and then their help just continue the story. RPG portion, so far, has added nothing.

Reading for work bookclub again. Let's see if I like better the second go around.
