E.F. Buckles is on page 250 of 334 of Lumen (The Nightingale Trilogy #2)
I have suspicions about the identity of this "unexpected enemy" and I don't like them. :( There's literally one other option and I hope it's that person instead. Also, a certain relative of a certain character is as sus as it gets and I. Don't. Trust. Him.

Despite knowing that Anne spent the early years of her life with an unloving family that had spousal abuse going on, it doesn't make it any easier to read about in deeper detail. These people are honestly making me so mad.😬

WOWOWOWOW. That was pretty epic and very touching. Both an amazing story and an intellectually stimulating exercise in "what if". RTC

Never thought I'd be concerned for the well-being of a magical sour dough starter (named Bob!), but here we are. :P

I'm going to pause the book here for the time being and come back to it when I'm in the mood to read more. Like I said, it's just pretty dense and much more facts about aspects of Middle Earth and Tolkien's decision process than story. So, no review or anything I'm just going to put a bookmark in, and mark it here on GR as want-to-read again until I get back to it another time.

This is interesting, but really quite dense. 😅 No criticism of the book or the editor, he was certainly doing his job by being thorough! It's just not as easily readable as some other post-humously published Tolkien books and I definitely think I'll be reading this in parts as the mood strikes vs trying to read it all the way through.

It's both interesting and amusing in a way that the editor of this book, Carl F. Hostetter, is actually telling us what state Tolkien's notes were in when he was given/read them. Like, this bit was on lined paper and written in black nib pen, meanwhile that bit was on the back of a bank-related slip. Sounds like Tolkien would write on anything he could get his hands on. :)

I got this a couple of years ago and am just now getting around to reading it. My goodness, I forgot how thick it is! And the font is actually on the small side, which probably means they shrunk it to keep it from being even thicker! I'm probably going to read this through September, but if I'm not finished with it by the 30th I may set it aside and finish it another time, LOL

The romance here has Romeo/Juliet vibes (Feuding families/"If only we had different last names, we could be together!") but thankfully not annoying like Romeo and Juliet were as characters. XD
