Don't mind me, just over here crying.

Roseanna did a great job making the rift between Gemma and Graham appropriately deep. We knew they had a falling out, but now it's revealed what happened and, oof. Like, it could be so easy for it to be something petty and have them end up feeling annoying, but it's actually something that you understand why they hurt so badly and how it would be so hard to forgive and move on from that.

Honestly, one of my favorite parts in the whole series is right here when Gen gets his swagger back after all the hard things that happened. :)

I'm glad to finally be learning what happened between Gemma and Graham. They clearly had a massive rift between them throughout the first book and I was just like, "what on earth happened???" <.<

Sophos seems so smol here compared to later in the series. He did so much growing.🥹

It's really interesting to reread this for the first time, knowing the relationships that develop, and who different people ultimately become. You suddenly see the places where Gen is intentionally trying to throw people off by making them think he's lying when he's actually telling the truth. Sneaksy, tricky thiefses. :P
