I am so close to the end of this book (and the series). You know how much I love this series? I'm reading it far too slowly so I can make it last longer. You know what I want to do after? Restart.

I absolutely adore Wheel Of Time.

Ok so I have a tonne of feelings. The battle that just took place was EPIC, and gripping, and relentless. It didn't feel entirely like the style Jordan would have chosen to write it, in fact I sensed a little bit of YA flavour that strongly tells me Sanderson was allowed to soar here (I know he's not strictly YA but his prose generally has that simplistic feel). On paper, this shouldn't work for me. But I loved it!

My favourite quote: “Never make your home in a place,” the old man had told him that day. “Make a home for yourself inside your own head. You’ll find what you need to furnish it—memory, friends you can trust, love of learning, and other such things. That way it will go with you wherever you journey …”

Cassandra Clare improves her prose with every single book. The best writing I've read yet of hers. Enjoying the kind-of-new cast. I don't feel guilty for loving these books anymore.

Ok so I love this book. A straightforward read, but much darker than expected with a lead character I can't help but root for. A mature debut, I hope it continues to shine.

This may go down as one of my top favourite series openers of all time. Wow.

This isn't a flawless transition from one author to another, but it is remarkably seamless. But I do miss Jordan's way with words, his grand vocabulary and his excessive descriptions. Sure, the pacing is faster, but there is a lack of emotional nuance and depth to the characters inner workings that I sorely miss.

Still, this is another fantastic Wheel Of Time book, but I don't agree Sanderson is as good with words.

I really need to stop being distracted by shiny new books. But like ... I'm not in a slump, but even the best books I am reading right now don't seem to satisfy! Anyone else feel that way? I'm just grabbing everything and seeing what sticks.
