I've never read Ramsey Campbel before, so I don't know if there's some trick to it or what... but this is easily the worst story I've ever read that has actually been published... and maybe even unpublished.

life's too short

I'm shocked by how bad this is. Isaacson writes like a kindergartener. If he understands the science, he's made no effort to explain it. And if he knows these people, he's made no effort to tell us about their lives. This isn't a biography or a science book. It's terrible.

Deeply moving eulogies of the legendary Dozois, but I was underwhelmed with his award winning story: the peacemaker.

Egan's novella felt like worldbuilding without a story. I didn't enjoy this one that much.

The Witch of Osborn Park fails the show don't tell rule, and the story wasn't fresh enough to compensate. Also didn't enjoy this one too much.

Wish i had read this years ago

Reading too many books again... but started this one on the way to Alaska and it's too good to just bail on... I'll probably be reading it for the next ten years

Already worth the read

Field of Ice, Gemma Amor - great setup, felt incomplete
Wood on the Hill, Clive Barker - for when he wrote it, this is impressive
Fear Sun - Laird Barron - a funny and yet creepy Barron story. Good

finally finished long puppet show chapter

becoming clear that there will be no actual plot here, just pedantic and tedious ruminations on the adam and eve story.

So far, not really standing out as anything all that different from other fantasies I've read... other than the 2nd person chapters... we'll see if those pay out

Loved the Woolard Poem

Good story by Octavia Cade mixing in some astronomical histories: Backward Lens of Compromise. I've enjoyed several of her stories in the past.

And a silly, but entertaining Attachment Unavailable by Leah Cypess.

This close to the end the book is feeling pretty thin.

Maybe a little too fast paced. But good so far. I'm interested.

Last Rites is the first every story I've almost DNF'd. And in the Paris Review! Didn't think too much of the McDermott interview either.

Both Wingless Beasts and Departures did not work for me. Departures was almost unreadable. I wish I'd just skipped it. Not sure what Datlow saw in this one...

My Infinite Jest buddy read and Cat's Cradle/Cujo bookclubs have bitten deeply into my Dhalgren reading... this perhaps wasn't the best book to sideline with IJ. LOL

Hilarious and brilliant chapter on Eschaton battle. This book unquestionably tries one's patience, but it also unquestionably rewards a careful read (with the right attitude)
