The second half of this excellent book doesn't work nearly as well as the first.

A second five story story. I can't remember the last time I read a collection with two five star stories. Truth of Fact, Truth of Feeling. Excellent.

The first story, Profession, is great, if sometimes kinda clunky.

Tourists by Rammel Chan is excellent. And a new author to me.

Dogwalkers ran long for me but I enjoyed it.

Gold Rush is my favorite chapter so far.

Alchemist Gate and Exhalation are excellent stories. Lifecycle had potential but is overlong.

The gothic: an interesting chapter, some missed opportunities, but good.

It was around chapter 13, when this went from an incredibly slow, but interesting build up to an exciting showdown, to the gibberings of an idiot.

Unpopular opinion alert: I found the intro by Heaney to be pompous and indulgent. Reading along with Headley's very recent translation. Headley wins round 1.

Fantastic introduction.

several of these feel less like stories, and more like slice of life moments in a characters life that might later be in a story. Like writing exercises almost.

going downhill. Alan Bean Plus four didn't do much for me. These stories are exactly what you'd expect Tom Hanks to write.
