need an audiobook to play to put me to sleep when i was sick <3

"There is, I believe, in every disposition a tendency to some particular evil -- a natural defect, which not even the best education can overcome."

"And your defect is a propensity to hate everybody."

"And yours," he replied, with a smile, "is wilfully to misunderstand them."

OH we are SO BACK
(thrilled to be reading this book for the first time since I was 12)

I think I paused reading this in earnest back at the end of September. It was only available in epub format from the library so i couldn't read it on my kindle. I shall return to reading this at some point for sure but it won't be this year!

Gonna have to DNF....
I kinda gave up a while ago but left it around in case I decided to come back to it. But I found myself never really wanting to.

Xingyin's plan sounds reckless and ill-founded, and the prospect of it going wrong stresses me out. Also, not a fan of the love triangle returning.

If a friend reads this and tells me to give it another chance, I will, but for now, I'm moving on to other things.

Won’t finish this year’s reading challenge, but it’s never too early to start next years!

AHHHH it's really happening!!!

Never before have I been so far in a book and so wanting to quit. Like I am 516 pages in and I still don't care about the characters, but also I don't want these 516 pages to be for nothing so onwards I go....

I'm liking it a lot more than Uprooted, but I feel hints of "asshole-who-has-literally-killed-innocents-without-caring is actually the cute love interest MC has been looking for all along" coming on, which Concerns me.

WOW Cal has finally gotten to me. It said she’s going to Stanford and I was immediately like “gross.” We’ll see if I can make it through :)
