I'm so disappointed in this it's crazy.. I don't think it's worth finishing.

While many may disagree, this is not only predictable, it's a regurgitation of the numerous racial injustice stories that came before it. A long time fan of Baldacci I'm a bit surprised

I felt it important to add that it's blatantly obvious that Baldacci is influenced by the media. The point being how right wing billionaires buy SCOTUS judges in order to further their agenda which is the foundation of the story being told here. It's sickening to someone like myself since freedom is what this country is built upon.

Mediocre at best

Looks like I got the plot twists I expected so it's all good in the neighborhood, lol. Have to finish this by Saturday since there are others at the library with holds on it

A direct parallel between this and A Time to Kill by Grisham. A white attorney in the south gets assistance from a black female Yale law school grad committed to winning racial injustice cases. It's good but far from unique

The proliferation of stories like these is a direct result of how politicians and law enforcement have divided the country, sad that it is. A dysfunctional family, it turns my stomach when I hear a mother coming down on her son for representing an innocent black man charged with murder. And the beat goes on

So far there's nothing unique about the story. We've seen this plot from other authors and I'm hoping Baldacci throws a curve ball soon

Hard not to think about the true crime stories in Bryan Stevenson's Just Mercy, when reading this. And while I enjoy Baldacci, this pales in comparison to factual accounts of racially driven conviction

Hard not to think of Grishams, A Time to Kill, though I'm sure the plot will evolve into something different

Literary fiction wearing a costume of race that's inspired by an ex felon.. Truly brilliant in all respects

It's always a delight to stumble across a book you'd overlooked and discover one of the best stories you've read in ages. While there's not a single mention of God, the inspiration is deep and evocative

A work of art.. Inspired, engaging and what you expect from the mind of Mr Mosley.. Socrates is one of the most unique characters I've encountered

Willy has a knack for creating some of the most depressing characters I've read and there's lessons to be learned as a result

I've read Walter Mosley for years and this is one of his best. It's not everyday we meet a character like Socrates who manages to inspire with a take no prisoners persona.. Terrific!

Very powerful message delivered by the theme of the story.. Mosley has shown that Socrates Fortlow a classic contradiction in terms contradiction in terms. A former murderer who did his time, clings to guilt while inspiring change with the Thinkers Meeting group.

Happy to see he lightens it up a bit but I have a feeling it's not going to last

Socrates is an interesting character as are the rest of the Thinkers club, a group comprised of brothas, a lawyer and a Jew

Wonderful. A combination of grit and inspiration from an ex felon and murderer.. Unique to say the least

First Socrates Fortlow story I've read and looks like another great character. Gritty, take no prisoner type but human nonetheless

Yikes.. Talk about depressing! Having enjoyed Lean on Pete which is also dark, these types of stories are difficult for someone who prefers upbeat themes.. Ugh!

Not your average Allon story by any means. And one packed with religious racism and power hungry conservative Catholics

Of all the books by Silva I've read, this is my least favorite since it's packed with ugliness associated with religious racism, extortion and a right wing order whose goal is to use wealth as a weapon. And while it's relevant to the plot, it's uncomfortable reading

While fictional the huge amount of money involved with these religious leaders is staggering and it makes one wonder if this is the sort thing that actually happens at the Vatican..

While the plot slowed from a deep dive in religious history, Silva picks up the pace as Allon assembles the team of usual suspects. Silva is one of the most consistent mystery authors in publishing

About as predictable as they come. This is 3 stars at best. Not sure if it's worth reviewing

Underwhelmed is all I can say. Not what I expected given it's ratings but writing is art and individual tastes vary

Of the 7 or 8 I've read this is the least favorite. While there are similarities to the DaVinci Code, it's not what I expected
