I'm so disappointed in this it's crazy.. I don't think it's worth finishing.

While many may disagree, this is not only predictable, it's a regurgitation of the numerous racial injustice stories that came before it. A long time fan of Baldacci I'm a bit surprised

I felt it important to add that it's blatantly obvious that Baldacci is influenced by the media. The point being how right wing billionaires buy SCOTUS judges in order to further their agenda which is the foundation of the story being told here. It's sickening to someone like myself since freedom is what this country is built upon.

Mediocre at best

Looks like I got the plot twists I expected so it's all good in the neighborhood, lol. Have to finish this by Saturday since there are others at the library with holds on it

A direct parallel between this and A Time to Kill by Grisham. A white attorney in the south gets assistance from a black female Yale law school grad committed to winning racial injustice cases. It's good but far from unique

So far there's nothing unique about the story. We've seen this plot from other authors and I'm hoping Baldacci throws a curve ball soon

Hard not to think about the true crime stories in Bryan Stevenson's Just Mercy, when reading this. And while I enjoy Baldacci, this pales in comparison to factual accounts of racially driven conviction

Hard not to think of Grishams, A Time to Kill, though I'm sure the plot will evolve into something different
