Nice piece of southern noir. A real page turner for me. Dark and desperate. 4/5

Jen is starting The Lost Apothecary
As a faith grab goes, this was not bad. I enjoyed the back and forth between 18th century London and “current” day. Wasn’t wild about the Caroline character and her husband was scum. But I loved Nella and Eliza! Those two had gumption. Not sure that it is a feminist novel. Just women doing what they felt they needed to for survival. 3.5/5

Jen is on page 330 of 356 of The Yellow House: Van Gogh, Gauguin and Nine Turbulent Weeks in Arles
What an amazing look at nine shared weeks between Van Gogh and Gauguin. Insecurities, rivalry, the attempt at camaraderie. And ultimately, genius and madness. An interesting look into the artists; particularly their minds. And ultimately the tragic ends to both and many of those around them. 4.5/5

Jen is starting Tetraminion (New Bizarro Author Series)
This was a gift. and might have read better in one session. The first portion introduces characters and tells a story. The part that takes place in Tetraminion reads like a fever dream. Short chapters jumping from idea to idea. Sure it’s metaphor and social commentary; at least it seems that way. But maybe that’s reading too much into it. If nothing else, this is a gory/scary dystopian tale. 3.5/5
