Took long enough to pick up

HOLY SHIT NO ONE CARES ABOUT YOUR SISTER.

I'm about 5 seconds from DNFing this book. This is getting ridiculous.

It took 70 pages for Eve to start acting like a temperamental child who has zero business wearing a police badge. She’s literally the poster child of defunding the police.

Let’s see how much Eve is going to piss me off with her whining and bullshit this time around.

I hate having to put this down. I could easily finish this in one sitting.

DNF. I want to like this but I can’t. Nothing is happening and none of the characters are likeable. I don’t normally care if all the characters are unlikeable but none of these characters have any redeeming qualities and they aren’t interesting enough for me to care.

Not to mention the story is jumping between the MC and another character for what’s supposed to be the “mystery” and yeah. Don’t care.

I’m giving this my typical 50 pages before deciding if I’m continuing or abandoning and it’s about 60/40 abandoning unless it picks up quick. I already don’t care about the main character. I don’t like weakness and she’s weak.

For anyone who wants to read this book:
Yes, there is a dog.
No, nothing happens to the dog.
He’s very much alive at the end.
Literally skipped to the last chapter to find this out because I would have DNfd it otherwise.

Seriously - how do you go from a story about gambling addiction to eco-terrorism?

This got pretty cringy but I kind of can’t stop reading it. Two plot lines that appear to have nothing to do with each other is just… weak? Right now I feel like this should have just been a short story about gambling addiction.
