I was afraid this would fall apart by this point, especially given some well telegraphed revelations, but it hasn't. It's very good.

Yay, a book.

This has taken a turn that would seem to preclude it going where the blurb/publicity had led me to expect, but that is not necessarily a bad thing. Also I have no idea what the hell those who've mentioned a controversial twist at the 1/3 mark could possibly be talking about.

Liking this. I think the style leans much more toward narration than is popular these days, and I'm sure it will probably get criticized for being "tell-y" but thank god. If somebody like Sanderson or Martin had written this story, chapter one would have been 2000 pages long and I'd have long since quit in disgust.

Ugh. Like reading a series of love notes from 9 year olds. Love Macdonald and Nolan's bio of him was amazing, but this is syrupy drivel.

Stalled. Not sure when I last touched this...

The jumping from character to character with no obvious unifying thread/plotline means that while I enjoy this well enough while I'm reading, once set aside there's absolutely no urgency or drive to pick it back up in a hurry.

Kind of hooked now, tho I think I know who the baddie really is. Hopefully I'm wrong.

I feel like the language would have fit a more contemporary setting better than whatever this is. Still, not jarring enough to put me off. -1 for using the word "ensorcelled" though.

This is much less Las Vegas-y than I feared, or than the back cover copy would have you believe.
