I don't know if I'm just on a very negative streak here where I incessantly criticize everything, but I'm worried that Johnson's ideas are just your run of the mill 'unique' ideas with no real strong basis. I'm not convinced of this whole sleeper curve thing because it's clear as day that the media HAS dumbed us down. 15 years after this book was published, I don't think the author would still stand by his words.

Premier chapitre sur la radioactivité naturelle de la terre qui justifierait peut être l'ionisation de l'air, et comment ça a conduit à la découverte des rayons ultra-gamma par Victor Hess. Intéressant!

I read enough for today. Yew makes some good points about not wanting to surrender to peer pressure, to societal norms (although to be frank, there are good ones so let's not throw out the whole bunch), about normative and informative social influences which I am dealing with on a daily basis and trying to break out. But I still can't agree with his idea of a purely animalistic kind of freedom.

I really hope this guy is kidding. Like thinking your parents owed it you to say thank you for going to university???? I hate this whole white overly fragile stance towards every little thing. Like we get it, wouldn't it be nice to live in the woods and be self sufficient?Yes sure! But that's not realistic. And your parents had your best interests in mind. This isn't an "authority is controlling me" kind of situation

I honestly still can't feel bad for Yew. I can't stand annoying little kids and i just can't root for the egot. As long as it makes Yew do acts which harm other people, then we're not on the same page. I do feel that the author is really trying to convey the radical message that freedom should be absolute, and I find it ridiculous to want a kind of freedom which does more harm than good to everyone

I will definitely be skipping a LOT of chapters.. I just want a book on OS development which doesn't really dig into the basics in most of the chapters.

A sad, sad journey to conformity.. In a way, I want to empathize with Yew for being a child and wanting to be free, but what is being free? Isn't it being a slave of your own gnawing urges and desires?

I like how the writer is telling a story about a writer who's telling a story about a writer reading a story and the 2nd writer is slowly having his own reality fade into his storytelling. I hope I'm not the only one who thinks reality and fiction are getting mixed up in this novel. Anyway, I'm loving it

"She has the story, and when a person is lucky enough to live inside a story, to live inside an imaginary world, the pains of this world disappear. For as long as the story goes on, reality no longer exists."
Look up Kafka's doll story guys.

Loads of lols :") It is crazy though how I'm supposed to believe that someone uses "perfunctory" and "rambunctious" in their normal everyday life when speaking to other people. I mean you reaaaally have to be an entitled snob but that's Nathan right?

I have already read this book before, but It's definitely one of those books you feel the need to read at certain times in your life, and you always interpret them differently and It's just so important to revisit when you want to step back and gain some perspective.
(IT'S NOT A SELF HELP BOOK)
