this is so random and i hate myself for thinking this, but it would’ve been better for Novik to use Anakin instead of Kylo since the students have no idea what’s going on on the outside and wouldn’t have seen star wars episode 7 before freshman year..... shdnsjsns why am i like this

i was super nervous about this book but WOW i am LOVING IT!

this funeral scene reminds me SO much of the funeral scenes in the move Heathers(probably because i watched it so recently) but oh my god what i would give for a weird dark comedy Heathers/Dead Poets Society mashup if this book ever gets made into a damn movie

the middle reallllly dragged for me but i’m glad it’s picking back up. i’m not the biggest fan of fantasy and my eyes are kind of glazing over 😅 but the romance is 👌🏻👌🏻

omg im HOOKED. i love kingfisher’s writing and the way she completely grips you. the humor and horror balance PERFECTLY. yeah im def going to read more from her

also...i kinda an already disappointed w this lol. there are so many similarities to this and the hollow places (which i LOVED) but i’m not sure if these are common horror/folklore tropes or just things that the author likes to include in her stories. idk, i’m still going to read it

i go back and forth over whether i like the politics. i feel like u get SO MUCH of it in here and it’s hard to keep track bc there’s so much going on. like it IS v interesting but i also want more romance....😅😅
