Thought I'd read this. I hadn't - had only started. Really rather well written. Makes you feel rather less than industrious seeing all the things these people like Joseph Banks got up to. Must. Do. More. Stuff.

Aaronovitch really does write in an extremely readable way. But his understanding of London geography still confuses me. Head west by car from Sloane Square to reach Archway? A 20-minute drive from Archway to Russell Square? (If a particularly bad rush hour and you don't try alternative routes, possible - just. But not really...

Rather good so far. A little too keen to show off how clever its author is, but that's kinda appropriate for the main character.

Readable, in a skim-reading kind of a way. Skipped the Montana bit though (sorry, Montana, but I'm just not that interested). Picking up again with Easter Island.

Trying to work out how much of this is merely kinda interesting detail to obscure the relative obviousness of the main hypothesis.

As so often with this kind of book, I'm struggling to work out whether there's any point reading beyond the introductory chapter, where the entire case has been laod out, Readers Digest style.

Started this over a year ago, moved house, and lost it in the packing. Recently found it on the shelf again and remembered to start up where I left off. Good stuff, if slightly tricky to remember who everyone is.

Fits and starts, this book. Sometimes unreadably technical, other times good fun...

Time for a re-read, havibg not picked this up since I was a teenager, when I didn't really get it, and read it more to say that I had. Loving it so far.

So, erm, I've just realised there *is* a glossary. And it's excellent. If arguably a bit of a spoiler.

Chipping away slowly only due to other priorities. Enjoying it - though feel rather sorry for some of the writers Pinker demolishes...
