This is really dragging. I felt like I'd been listening for hours more, but I'm still only 30% of the way though. I'm probably not going to carry on with the remaining 8 hours. 8 hours is the length of many GOOD stories.

This is actually really boring.

Slow start. I was expecting it to be good.

My earliest-yet un-or-re-read Reynolds novel. I remember the setting and characters, but individual story moments are all new again.

Last book in the series! Last time as paper book, now as a Peter Kenny audiobook. Brilliant!

This feels like a much smaller story than a novel needs. But it's still good fun.

Story got going about 40% of the way in. A bit late for me normally, but it's enjoyable catching up with characters and putting them in place.

Juliane is a bit behind, but we'll probably review this one before the end of the year.

This book is good except the bits where someone gets annoyed with Shallon, and we have to read/listen along to everything that person finds annoying. And we also find it annoying. Very annoying. And all the other times other people find her annoying.

Anyway, I'm on the last section of the 6 part audiobook. Ramping up to the final battle (because there's got to be a final battle) with just 6 hours to go.

I'm now starting the fourth file of the six part audiobook recording. Only about 22 hours to go! Thankfully it's mostly good.

Surely it can't just be me who is so annoyed with Shallan, right? Oh my storm.

I stalled on this one a few days ago. I don't think I'm going to finish it. That's another Hugula award associated novel I'm bailing on.

How can I keep falling asleep so quickly when I put this on?

I'm actually quite pleased that this novel was Banks's last Culture novel, as it's completely bonkers. Going out on a "they all die at the end" story would have been such a downer.

This is really good fun!

Starting this again for the Culture series read-through with Juliane for the SFBRP.

I started caring when the protagonist had something to lose.

Juliane thought my ongoing complaining while reading this was so entertaining that she started recording it on her phone. Listen out for that on the upcoming podcast review.

This totally confused me by starting hundreds/thousands of years before the events of The Dreaming Void (depending on zone of thought), and I thought I was reading a continuing story/sequel series. And then, weirdly, I am. Time travel is confusing.

I'm 6 stories into the 18 story collection (though I skipped The Girl Who Was Plugged In as I read it last month). There's some fun ideas, but I guess I'm not a fan of ideas presented as short stories. Even the best short stories leave me more frustrated than entertained.

This is good. But very short. I might have to get the next books already, read them as one story, and review them all as one go.

I stopped listening to this for a few days to concentrate on some far less enjoyable novels. Now I've given up on them, but reviewed them anyway, back to Pirates of the Future Caribbean!

Giving up half way through. It's just not even remotely science fiction enough to interest me, and way too much a crime/noir book about... still not sure.

Tobias S Buckell is way easier to get through on audio, not actually having to read his terrible sentences. Funny to hear the narrator stumble through them though.

There were about four pages of material that really interested me. Mostly this is wonderful writing about things I don't find particularly special or entertaining.

So far it's not gripping me. I was expecting funny. Not sure why.

I'm not a big fan of noir, but I sometimes enjoy noir+other genre styling.

Gang of Four is one of my favourite characters ever.

Seems quite slow after the break-neck pace of Echopraxia.
