Well, this is stupid but quite fun.

Weirdly, still feels like the story hasn't got going yet. But it's the same as the first book. Except it didn't start in media res and then go back.

The deal isn't shipping cows. It turns out the deal is to take a long journey to a small, angry planet. Not sure why I expected anything more than that.

Episode 1: introduce main characters and hint at the big deal. Will the deal turn out to be shipping cows?

Utterly monstrous. I really hope the twist of the novel is that everyone they think is a psychopath isn't one, and the detestable main characters are.

This book is making me angry on behalf of humanity.

I thought I'd read this before, but I don't remember it at all. I guess it was another fantasy book with a similar title.

Holy shit, this book is long. Good fun, but it's taking a loooong time to get through the audiobook.

A bit slower now I'm not on a work trip. It'll pick up once I'm back on the road/high seas.

Weird how comfortable I am just falling in with these characters in this world after only one book and a few years since reading it. Totally the opposite of most other fantasy series.

Kinda saw where this was going in the first few chapters. Thankfully the journey to get there is quite good fun.

This is both cleverer and dumber than the movie.

I thought this was a tie-in novel for the TV show, but it's sort of more like a novelization of the first series. Or is so far. Some good extra bits at the start though, and extra world building not in the show.

Unless anyone says anything to stop me, I'm going to give up on this, read what happens at the end on wikipedia, and record the podcast review tomorrow.

Still over 8 hours to go? Shit. Please tell me this is going to have an amazing ending. I really don't want a "twist" like "turns out people survived in Rufus's mine!" because I guessed that in the first 10 minutes of part 3.

This has turned very grim. I remember back 10 hours of audiobook ago when it was all about space station design. Back when it was fun.

I was craving human drama to go along with the technical details and logistics, but now every time we switch to the "politics and intrigue" subplot, all I can think is "When can we get back to the orbital mechanics and the capturing the comet story?"

After a fun start, there was a 7 hour stretch with NO story and NO plot and NO character development. Only logistics, space station design, and orbital mechanics. Thankfully story is happening again 12 hours in.
