I've DNF'd a lot of books because I found the FMC annoying but this is such a peculiar case because I honestly don't mind Aya most of the time until she's around who I'm pretty sure is her love interest and then she is the most insufferable pious bitch like her reasons for hating him are thin and she calls him a monster but he's in the queen's Tría JUST LIKE HER AND HER BFF so aren't you the same level of monstrous?!

Oh my God I wish they'd done trigger warnings 35 years ago because I feel I should have been forewarned about the equine murder like I'm devastated that poor boy deserved better

I really really want to support Hispanic authors ESPECIALLY Tejano authors because it feels like home but I swear to God if Ben doesn't end up alone at the end I will rain hellfire down on this book like he is EVIL I'm confused how he's kept Alice AND Marcela on the hook like he's the devil actually no I've read books about demons that aren't as malevolent as Ben fucking Young

I'm not loving the book overall it's super mid but it has had a few really great moments this literally had me in tears I was laughing so hard

I don't know why but I have to assume it's because as a kid (10-16) I liked watching cheesy TV dramas (Castle was my favorite) but when someone says slow burn I expect to wait at least a book maybe two before they even like each other and I'm only 50% into book one and he's in awe of her eyes NO! SAVE THAT FOR BOOK TWO maybe we get a kiss by book 3 strictly for reasons tho not bc they're giving in to the heat

I hate the MMC I feel like he treats Piper like crap and then everyone else does too and he doesn't defend her which makes me mad like why doesn't he defend her to his friends if he's so besotted like he claims nah he just let's then talk shit about the girl he allegedly cares about and they all treat her like the villain while he's the long suffering hero putting up with this mess of a girl idk

Gosh, I haven't reread this since I was like 14 maybe? It was like my first "teen" book, and for years it was the standard for what all other books needed to be. Although, Cross My Heart and Hope to Spy, was my favorite because I was #TeamZach all the way lol. But anyway I've been feeling kinda down lately, I seriously hope this transports me back to the days of innocence and first loves. sighs wistfully

I've never understood, when people talk about books that make you feel awful but you love it anyway. I get it now. I feel sad, kinda sick, and angry, because everyone is fucked. No if, ands, or buts, there's no way for this to end in a way that I want, and yet I keep reading, because I so desperately want these kids to get a happy ending. And I know it's impossible but I think it might break my heart if they don't.

AHH this is my first vampire book, ever. I wondered if I should read Twilight first for all the cliche vampire drama, but I'm hoping this is going to be really good and then I'll ease into other vampire books.

Mack found his favorite author and pulled The Protector, her newest book, off the shelf. A romantic suspense about a Secret Service agent and the president’s daughter. He loved a little danger with his romance, and he especially loved an enemies-to-lovers story.
