Heh, I just now noticed the bookmark I picked. Totally unintentional!

I have no idea what anyone has been talking about for the last 5 pages. I'm all for being thrown into things without giant info-dumps, but come on, throw me a bone!

I'm really hoping Rule isn't going to be a love-interest, but seeing how he's listed as a character in every book in this series, I'm guessing he plays an important role. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt for the moment, but I'm not digging his sleezeball player persona.

I haven't listened to this since September and I'm sick of looking at it. I haven't abandoned it completely, but it's getting put on hold.

It wasn't illegal to be a sensitive, but it could be complicated.
Irreproducible data was not admissable in court, and a good defense attorney could rip an officer's testimony to shreds if there was a whiff of the paranormal about the investigation.
But cops tend to be pragmatic. The unofficial policy was to use whatever it took to catch the bad guys, even if you had to do it under the table.

Definitely getting an Anita Blake vibe already - the character, not the series. We have a non-white female protagonist who is short and works in law enforcement. She also has special powers and the boys on the force give her a hard time. We'll see if Wilks is more successful with this character type than LKH is.

So it's all unraveling, and I'm starting to wonder exactly what is real along with Jack, and I suppose that's the point.

So, for anyone who's planning to read this, just imagine that Marbury is like the Matrix and things will make a little more sense. If the Matrix confuses you though, sorry, you're screwed.

I have this odd feeling that the first 60 pages of this novel could have been omitted and the story wouldn't have suffered at all. The beginning really felt like it belonged to another book.

With Borders done for, I don't know where to get mass markets anymore for cheap. The best I can come up with is Amazon and their buy 4 for the price of 3 deal, but that's only a 25% discount. Anyone know of any other places to get cheap books from?
