The miller is so insane that the story is very comical to read!!! I love this

“The Monster” by Satu Waltari has...a rather lukewarm twist. Meanwhile, “A Diseased Man” by Boris Hurtta is somewhat interesting to read.

"The Slave Breeder" by Juhani Peltonen is grotesque and has a "SAW" film franchise vibe... So if the aim of the author is to make us readers uncomfortable, then he had succeeded in achieving this aim. "Transit" by Johanna Sinisalo was beautifully writ, and just like her novel "Core of the Sun" (which I have read in full), it speaks of the dynamics in relationship between unusual people with society in general

I would also note that Arto P.’s story was taken from a novel of the same name, which (unfortunately) has not been translated into English yet.

“Congress” by Erno Paasilinna is a somewhat dull read, it felt like reading off a grocery shopping list of countries’ diplomats. Fortunately, “Good Heavens!” by Arto Paasilinna is a fun read, showing the immediate afterlife of a wandering spirit after his sudden death.

The “Boman” story by Pentti Holappa is somewhat fun read as it features a talking dog who is a smart-aleck, but “Shopping” by Tove Jansson is like a tease for a much longer story. Jansson’s dystopian world story seems to have so much potential, until it got cut off so abruptly. I would have liked to read the continuation of that story...

Mokhtar and Giuliano are ordinary people who have such fascinating live stories... I wish I could see them in person!

“The Great Yellow Storm” by Bo Carpelan is the most pointless story in this book so far. Seriously, why was this story even written at all???

“Island of the Setting Sun” by Mika Waltari is filled with deaths caused by an eery enthralment on an object... I love it!

“The Legend of the Pale Maiden” by Aleksis Kivi seems like a reiteration of previous stories about ‘monsters stealing the girl’ that I’ve heard before...

Lots of archaic English words in the English translation of “Wolf Bride” excerpt by Aino Kallas, e.g. fie, wold, verst... I like the fantastical elements throughout the story, it feels “dreamy” reading it

This is for a light reading, just a collection of short stories by some of the most well-respected Finnish authors

This nonfiction book that tells the story of a young Yemeni American man is quite intriguing!
