So many unique Russian names here (which I am unaccustomed to), but somehow I am able to follow them and keep track which one is which…the author Bulgakov has such talents!

Also, I noticed early on that this novel has a magical realism undercurrent, which I love.

The story has such a strong religious undertones in the beginning. I’m about to find out if this is to become the overarching theme of the whole novel…or if the Christian setting is only there to set the scene.
