Start of this book; Companion Serilla, I'm a bad ass mother fucker and I'm going to fuck this shit up and murder hobo every fool!!

Um.. ok

As usual I love Hobb's prose, a few odd sentences but otherwise it just flows brilliantly and I a really engaging read.

Whilst less obvious, I still feel the strand of useless characters and continual misfortune flowing through this same as the first series. The characters are uniformly useless, make continual bone headed decisions and constantly cause themselves issues they don't need to.

I've never read a King novel apart from the first Black Tower Book (which I had mixed feelings on) and so far on this I've rather enjoyed it. The breakdown of society elements are brilliant, the beginning introduction of the mystical elements feel a little unwanted and unwarranted so far but let's see how it goes.

A little bit of a strange read. It generally reads quite well but in at a few points in the middle of passages, sentences or paragraphs the narrative seems to suddenly shift character perspective with no transition, an action is only half explained or finishes without a preamble ir a new character or an event appears as if always there.

It's strange and a bit disconcerting having already happened a half dozen times.

This is a lot more readable than I expected and does not suffer as much from the passage of time as some classics.
Book 2, chapter 8, Scandal has eerily accident comparisons with today's political climate and it struck me so hard.
Great read though not one I can sit and pummell a hundred pages at a time.

Always promised myself I would read this so here goes!

I must admit to being sniffy about this series thinking it was books cashing in off a popular game series. I recently found it was the other way round and thus picked up the first book and I must admit to being hugely impressed so far.

great start, esselmont has replaced Erikson in terms of writing an engaging, fun and interesting read.

I forgot how much I loved Mr Akunin and his wonderful character having to tolerate the achingly long wait between English publishing of this following Diamond Chariot. Something about this book the words simply leap of the page demanding to be read.

Thoroughly enjoyable as ever.

This is the Fitz I loved to hate, so much self pitying navel gazing so far it's becoming a chore.

Good writing and the story is coming together.

Strange book, I'm not exactly sure I know what is going on or the point of the book as of yet but it's extremely readable.

This is the whiny Fitz I remember putting me off the series first time in this book so far.

200 pages in one evening is a real marathon for me, the book has really gripped me and I would have kept going but it was midnight.

Enjoying this on the second read, similar to my Re-read of the first I'm finding myself a lot more forgiving of Fitz. A little frustrated with the acceptance of Regals actions even if they need his support the passivity is a little hard to believe.

Decent start but I'm now picking up my irritated vibes once again with the main character from my first read through. We'll see though.

Thoroughly enjoying the writing

Decided to give this another go with Robin Hobb being so highly rated by almost everyone I know. The prose is as good as I remember and the words tumble off the page so good so far. The writing was never the issue though it was the character so we'll see.

Not gripping me like the first one and to a lesser extent the second.

Good start

I struggled to get into this compared to the first book but as it goes it really get into its stride. I liked the characterisation in the first book but I find it even better in this one, especially the relationship between the Spec Ops members. Now with the portal passed things are really stepping up and finding it hard to put down.

Great read. I really like the tone, the pacing the prose. Great package.
