Part 2, finished. Man, I'm remembering so much stuff and discovering a lot more about the series and the world as I read through it a third time. Cannot wait for the next one...it's so close, I can feel it...

Two more things I love about this book: Wit's insults, and the tense political maneuvering.

And we continue...and I remember more and more how much I love this book, its world, characters, and story. Seriously, though, this is a book I will NEVER get sick of, kinda like the entire Belgariad series... :)

Dalinar, you are awesome. Just sayin'. Two things I've noticed on my third reread so far: First, I realized that we really don't spend all that much time in depression town with Kaladin. Sure, the entire first part, but that's not considerably long, given the length of the entire work. And last... it's so obvious that Shallan has a Shardblade. I have no idea how I missed that the first time.

Yes, I know... I'm already almost 200 pages into this reread...and it's been one day.

But this book is just so awesome in every way that it's impossible for me to put it down. Once again, I will say it: favorite book of all time.

And I'm off! Officially started my third re-read of The Way of Kings today, in preparation for the Words of Radiance release.

And once again, this book is AWESOME. Still my favorite book of all time.

Oh...You did NOT just do that, Terry Brooks! You ended that chapter mid-sentence...mid-word for that matter... And there was about to be an explosion...guess I have to keep reading.

Well, almost everyone has met at the Columbia River... it looks like we're getting close to the climax. Now we just have to go the safehold and somehow fend off a giant army of demons and once-men led by anti-Gandalf.

Ah, what a glorious day of reading I've had. Getting closer all the time to being finished with the last book of the Genesis of Shannara series. After that, I'll take a break to reread The Way of Kings and then read its sequel, Words of Radiance. Then back to Shannara.

IT'S A BABY! Oh...that's not good.

Now THAT was a fun twist. I didn't remember that one. Bravo, Mr. Brooks.

And now we come down to it...the end of the end. The conclusion of the Genesis. The end of the beginning.

One of the things I don't necessarily like about my Shannara Mega-Read so far is the way the characters always care so much when any other character dies. Even when they barely knew the person. They're like, "oh my gosh, I have such emotional damage because of this character's death," when they knew them for like...two days. Not very realistic.

Still love these books, though... :) haha

So, I'm really enjoying the whole "Every Ghost's Backstory" plot arc. I like learning about each kid's childhood and where they came from, it lends a nice sense of concreteness to their character when I can see where they've been.

This series is great. Post-apocalyptic with demons and magic and street kids and Freaks and THE STINKIN' KING OF THE SILVER RIVER. That's awesome stuff right there.

Huh. Well, I didn't see that coming. Goodbye Alie.

Yes, having an audiobook is helpful when you don't have a lot of time to sit down and read a book.

And now I remember the classic "someone's secretly a demon" sub-plot in this book. I've read this before, but I can't remember who it was...though I'm putting my money on Culph. Never trust old historians.

So, I love having audiobooks. It means I can experience a book pretty much whenever I want, and I don't have to sit down and read it. I could be cleaning...I could be in transit...and still read books!

Sorry, random splurge into commercial marketing for audiobooks.

Anyway, it is helping me finish faster when I have an audiobook to listen to. Almost done!

Aha! There are the elves. And now we have the official setup done for the entire series. I am now starting to wonder how this book actually ends. And how the climax is going to be quality-wise.

And we've been introduced to all the main characters of this series...except for the elves. Not sure if they only come in on the second book, but I am really excited to get this whole magic/our world thing explained to me again. It's been a while since I read these books.

The one thing I do have an issue with is why the gypsy morph took a hundred years to manifest after Nest gave birth to it. Hopefully that will get explained... If the only reason it happened was because Terry wanted to do a post-apocalyptic Shannara series, then...I will not like that.

I find it funny that the various Ghosts, the kids, are named after animals, but the dog is named after a person. Cheney, to be exact

Whoa... it's almost a hundred years after the Word and Void trilogy? Well, I guess that makes sense.

Okay... Logan has Nest's hand-bones now...kinda creepy...

Two Bears is back. And he hasn't aged a bit.

I'm definitely seeing this book a lot differently after reading the Word and the Void trilogy. It's set in Seattle, for one. and so was A Knight Of The Word. The way I imagined the city while reading that book is the way I cu City now. Except a lot more destroyed. And populated with Freaks.

Just from that prologue I remember how much I liked these books. Getting excited to finally figure out some of the secrets to the old world of Shannara. And we're back in Hopewell, Illinois. This time it's a ruin.

Oh, Bennett... looks like the feeders got you after all. Mr. Terry Brooks, that was extremely well done. Bravo.

People in this trilogy disappear dramatically a lot.

Oh, and although the demon antagonist in this book is really awesome (I mean, he's dressed as a preacher, for crying out loud!), his name might be a little more...er, intimidating.

I love me a good ol' urban fantasy. Awesome, creepy things can happen , and normal people can get dragged into a dangerous world kicking and screaming.
