Considering DNFing. Idk why I keep trying to make fairy tale/Greek myth retellings work. I’m just not into them I guess. 🤷‍♀️

Here’s the thing, the critiques about lack of world building are valid, however, the banter and insult slinging between FL and ML are top tier. This book fits my humor very well.

This book lost me at like the 40% mark. Each chapter is made up of small, related stories that all tie together into the same message, but it often feels choppy and disjointed. The flow is off?

Dude. This guy is insufferable. Like I know this book is a social commentary… but jeeez.

I know I don’t like a book when I continue to up the audio speed. If I ever see this book in stores, I hope I remember to look to see if the author spelled it weirdly or the narrator is mispronouncing the word pizza.

Heavily considering DNFing.

Tbh, one of the best prologues I’ve ever read.

I find it incredibly weird that an author would name drop the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire, a tragedy I would argue that most people have never heard of, mention that it was “the proprietor’s crime”, but also completely bury the lede that the doors to that factory were locked on purpose and that’s why the workers couldn’t escape and nearly 150 people died.

So far, I don’t understand why this isn’t categorized as YA.

On the fence about this one. Not a big fan of the time period or the first narrator… but alas, this is one of my Fantasy Bingo picks and counts for a GR’s challenge….

I am both champing at the bit waiting for the next challenges and sad that I haven’t finished The Expanse yet.

I probably won’t rate this right away. After the last short story, I was anticipating that book 6 would be very biopunk, but it isn’t. Not to say that the book is bad or anything, I just want more vomit zombies I guess.

Boi is this a tough chapter to listen to… like why would you make the alien race talk all disjointed and choppy like a robot.

There’s too much yelling in this audiobook. Like I get it, we’re animated, but when two of the narrators are yelling half the time…

Accidentally checked out the version narrated by a completely different person……..

Tbh I’m not sure how I feel about this book. I wasn’t expecting it to be exactly like the movie, especially since I don’t remember it well, but it feels more like an ‘inspired by’ situation if that makes sense, which a quick look at the Wiki confirms. Unsure if I’ll be continuing this series. It’s not bad, there’s just so many other books I feel more compelled to read.

I’m glad we finally get to hear the internal dialogue of the other three main characters.

I feel like I’m home again.

I lied, I’m powering through so I never have to think about this book again.
